Stillness

Australian Shepherd dog at night.

There’s a stillness on a cold winter night in the country that you won’t find in the city. Up in our north pasture it’s just me, my dog, and the bulls. For some reason they don’t like their hay, that is until I move the bale ring off the pile. Now, the hay is suddenly good. They start eating. The moon has set and the stars are out, but tonight it is very dark and very still. No sound at all. Not my dog. Not the bulls eating. Just silence – and peace.

(John 14:27) “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
